One of the Worst MLM Recruiting Tactics EVER

Are you making this mistake?
I got a call yesterday from someone who said he had a question about my online business. It piqued my curiosity as I figured he was either a prospect or recruiting for his MLM. As it turns out, it was the latter.
He gave me the standard “if I could show you how to make $10,000 in the next “x” days, would it be worth your time?” As an aside, if I had $100 for every time I heard that one I would have an extra $10,000 minimum. My answer was a resouding “no thanks.” Why? It’s simple; I am committed to the company that I am building, but more than that I am committed to my team and I have spent years developing online reasources that few can offer. I shared that with him and he politely ended the call.
Now can you see why this is a horrible recruiting tactic? Let’s say, I wanted to jump to the company of the week and said “sure, I’d love to hear more”. He would then have recruited a “rep” that was not one who would likely commit for the long haul. He said he found me on one of my websites which promotes network marketing. I know why people think that is a good idea, and I used to do the same thing. But the bottom line is that those people are only good until the next “too good to be true” call comes in. Then you will lose them.
I am building for the long haul, and here is a novel idea - we actually recruit people that want to sell because that is what network marketing is. Second to that, our focus is building customers, not reps - that’s where the money is. A customer who is sold on your product will be a customer for life, but a disgruntled, flighty, or “company of the week” rep is a short term revenue stream - and in some companies it’s actually a liability because some companies that pay up front, charge back their reps when people cancel.
I hate to sound arrogant, but this is worth gold. If you are using tactics like that, you are beating your head against the wall. If you are doing that and it is sincerely working, I’d love to hear from you.
